BI Dashboard Design

The process & outcomes of designing a user-centric dashboard for Echosec Systems, a collaboration between CentricPark - Echosec & Matin at the forefront of data discovery and situational awareness.

The Goal

UX research and design principles were applied to create an intuitive interface that effectively aggregates and visualizes complex data from social media, the dark web, and other sources, enhancing Echosec’s product offerings post-acquisition by Flashpoint.

Project Services

  • UX Research

  • User Journey Mapping

  • Wireframing & Prototyping

  • User Interviews

  • Interaction Design

Challenge

The primary challenge was to design a dashboard that not only seamlessly integrates the robust data streams from Echosec Systems but also aligns with Flashpoint’s user expectations and advanced intelligence operational needs. The dashboard had to be intuitive for a diverse user base while offering deep analytical capabilities for seasoned intelligence professionals.

Wireframes

We synthesized this data to create wireframes & solve our usability issues by prototyping the dashboard concept.

Drawing insights from our research, we began sketching out the dashboard's framework, prioritizing real-time data feeds, and ensuring that users could customize their views. We developed wireframes and iterated them through several rounds of feedback. After solidifying the wireframes, we moved on to high-fidelity mockups, which included the Echosec data sets and Flashpoint’s analytical tools.

Soloutions

  1. Designed a modular dashboard that allowed users to personalize their data feeds, enabling them to process complex information streams rapidly.

  2. We leveraged Echosec's strength in geospatial data, incorporating interactive maps that could overlay various data sources for a deeper situational context.

  3. Recognizing the diverse range of users, from novices to experts, the dashboard was designed to adapt to the user’s familiarity with the tool, providing additional layers of complexity as needed.

  4. Developed a flexible design system that could easily integrate new data sources, ensuring long-term scalability.

The Results

The redesigned dashboard was met with positive feedback from users, who highlighted the ease of interpreting complex data and the ability to customize their data streams. Flashpoint's integration meant that users now had a one-stop solution for their intelligence needs, which significantly enhanced their operational effectiveness.

  • Echosec Systems was acquired by Flashpoint

  • User efficiency increased by 30% due to the streamlined interface

  • Customizable dashboards led to a 40% reduction in time spent setting up the interface

  • User satisfaction scores rose by 25%, indicating a successful design solution
